GENERAL INFORMATION
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE REFILLING CARTRIDGES

Refill the cartridge before it is empty or the inside content is dry. It is not recommended to refill a cartridge that has been emptied for longer than 2 weeks. It is best to check the cartridge periodically and add ink. Cartridges containing a sponge may not absorb ink properly (if the sponge becomes dried out) and will cause the cartridge to leak.

Cartridge Cleaning - Soak printhead in a small amount of warm water (recommend using a shallow saucer or bottle). Remove cartridge after 5 to 10 minutes and wipe printhead clean with a water dampened paper towel. Allow printhead to dry, then install in printer and perform print cleaning cycle (see printer manufacturer's user manual).

Sponge Containing Cartridges - The sponge should be soaked with but not floating in ink. It is better to under fill slightly than to overfill the unit. Any excess ink dripping from the printhead should be cleaned off by wiping or resting the cartridge on the paper towel, however DO NOT allow the cartridge to rest for more than one minute. The cartridge will be drained of ink if the printhead is left too long on the paper towel. To avoid overfilling, stop filling when the ink just begins to surface around fill hole.

Priming - Removal of excess air that may obstruct printing operation. (3 methods: A, B or C)

  1. Passive Method: Place cartridge printhead down on a folded paper towel for 20 seconds to draw out ink and equalize pressure in cartridge. DO NOT allow the cartridge to rest for more than one minute. The cartridge will be drained of ink if the printhead is left too long on the paper towel.
  2. Active Method: Firmly hold the suction over the printhead and pull the plunger slowly to draw out the air from the cartridge. To confirm all excess air is removed, also draw about 1-2mL of ink.
  3. Primer Page - Primer pages can be used to assist in clearing blockage in a print head, or simply for 'priming' the cartridge. The purpose is to force ink, air and blockage out of the cartridge. To create primer page, take any painting or drawing program and cover the surface of your page with a single large block of black, and then print the page. The more surface that is covered on the page the better.
